S-05 / SERVICE
The systems beneath the interface deserve a design.
I build backend services and the infrastructure that supports them: APIs, data pipelines, networking, containers and deployments. The goal is a system whose behavior can be understood and operated.
APIs, servers and databases, and the infrastructure under them: distributed services, networking, containers and edge deployments that stay fast and observable.
SCOPE
- 01APIs and backend services
- 02Databases and data pipelines
- 03Cloud, edge and container infrastructure
- 04Performance and reliability work
TOOLS
Swift NIO / Rust / Node / Postgres / Docker / Cloudflare
01
Model the boundary before the implementation
Backend work starts by identifying the data, trust boundaries and failure modes the product needs to handle. That frames API contracts, persistence, background work and the operational signals that matter.
The scope may include an API, a database design, a service integration, a deployment path or a focused reliability improvement. It is shaped by the system already in place and the change the team needs.
02
Keep operations visible
A service is part of its environment. Deployment, configuration, logs, metrics and recovery procedures should make the system easier to inspect when normal behavior changes.
The tools in the service catalog include Swift NIO, Rust, Node, Postgres, Docker and Cloudflare. Tool choice follows the constraints and responsibilities of the system, not a fixed stack prescription.
03
A filed example
Flying Dutchman is the systems project on file. Its project record provides the evidence available for this work; the page does not claim performance or reliability outcomes beyond that record.
NEXT STEP
Describe what needs to be built, what already exists and who will use it. The conversation starts with context and scope.
